‘Spring Fling’ to Benefit Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund
At Market House on City Dock Wed., March 20 at 6 p.m.
Annapolis, MD (March 15, 2019) – The Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund will host a “Spring Fling” fundraising event at Market House on City Dock on Wednesday, March 20. There will be a VIP reception from 6 to 7 p.m. with Mayor Gavin Buckley and members of the Annapolis City Council. From 7 to 10 p.m. there will be live and silent auctions. Food will be provided by six great Annapolis eateries: Caliente Grill, Graul’s Catering, Iron Rooster, Lemongrass Annapolis, Mission BBQ, Vin 909, and The Annapolis Market House. Live music will be provided by Annapolis singer/guitarist Ryan Kozel.
The scholarship program is funded entirely through donations. Traditionally, two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to high school seniors residing in the City. This year a total of seven scholarships will be awarded through the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund. The $5,000 funding the additional scholarships was graciously donated anonymously, to be awarded in honor of the victims of the Capital Gazette shooting: Gerald Fischman, Rob Hiaasen, John McNamara, Rebecca Smith, and Wendi Winters. It is a wonderful tribute to these Annapolis heroes.
“Come out to bid on some uniquely Annapolis experiences in the auction,” Mayor Gavin Buckley said. “It is in support of a strong program that directly benefits graduating seniors in the City of Annapolis in both college attendance and career training.”
The auction items include: a much sought after Tailgate Package for the 2019 Annapolis Cup Croquet Match (Tailgate Spot & 10 Tickets); VIP experience for 2 to the 2019 Military bowl; VIP experience for 6 at the July 6 Chesapeakes Bayhawks game; Season tickets to the 2019 WRNR Rockin’ River Cruise and Concert series; Autographed baseball from Hall of Famer Cal Ripken.
Lt. Kevin Krauss, of the Annapolis Police Department’s Community Services Unit, is spearheading the scholarship fund and the fundraiser. “We hope to grow the Scholarship Fund so that each recipient will receive $1000 for all four years,” said Lt. Krauss.
Tickets for the Spring Fling are $45. The celebration is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available for $75. The VIP reception begins at 6 p.m. with a meet and greet with Mayor Buckley. Find more information online: Bit.ly/2NOQf6t
