“March for Our Schools” in Annapolis Will Likely Close Most of
Rowe Blvd. (Between Taylor & Calvert Streets) Monday Evening
Annapolis, MD (March 6, 2019) – On Monday, March 11 beginning at 6 p.m., the City of Annapolis will close the road for a First Amendment march down Rowe Blvd. between Herbert Sachs Blvd. and Calvert Street at Bladen Street.
The “March for Our Schools,” sponsored by the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA), is expected to draw upwards of 7,500 people. MSEA organizers have determined that number from people who have signed up to attend, including teachers, parents, students and community leaders from around the state. There will be a stage set up at Bladen and Calvert Streets where marchers will hear from speakers.
Please note that the march is expected to be the largest rally in Annapolis in a decade and significant traffic delays from Navy Stadium to the offices of the Maryland General Assembly are anticipated.
Parking will be available (until full) at City garages, including:
- Noah Hillman Parking Garage – 150 Gorman Street
- Gotts Court Parking Garage – 25 Northwest Street
- Knighton Parking Garage – 1A Colonial Avenue
- Park Place – 5 Park Place (Free Circulator shuttles will run from this location)
In addition, the following parking lots and garages will be open (until full):
- Whitmore Garage – 25 Clay Street
- Calvert Street Garage – 19 St. Johns Street
- Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, 550 Taylor Avenue
Drivers should allow extra time to work around road closures in the area surrounding Rowe Blvd. on Monday, March 11 between 6 and 8 p.m.
