On Monday, December 4, Gavin Buckley will be sworn in as Mayor of the City of Annapolis, along with members of the Annapolis City Council. Ceremonies begin at 2:30 p.m. The event will take place outside on the first block of West Street near Church Circle in Historic Annapolis. An Inaugural Ball at the Loews Annapolis Hotel on West Street begins at 7 p.m. that evening.
PRESS AVAILABILITY: Mayor-Elect Buckley will be available for scheduled one-on-one interviews from 12-1 p.m. on Monday. Please call ahead (443-254-6000) to arrange a time for a one-on-one interview during this time period.
The Inauguration Ceremony will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. with a parade entering West Street from Calvert Street and ending at a stage on the corner of West Street and Church Circle. The parade will feature local elements including the Annapolis Drum & Bugle Corps, Annapolis Police Color Guard, Naptown Marching Band, Ward 4 “Divas,” the South River High School Marching Band, and the Annapolis Fire Department Color Guard. The Mayor-Elect and City Council-Elect and their families also will march in the parade.
Monitors will be placed along West Street for better views of the stage for those standing farther away. West Street from Calvert Street to Church Circle will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Inauguration Ceremony is free and open to the public.
Later in the evening on December 4th, an Inaugural Ball will be held at the Loews Hotel, located at 126 West Street in Annapolis. This is a black-tie optional, ticketed event and anyone interested in attending should visit www.gavin2017.com to purchase tickets at $100 per person.
