WHAT: An announcement about the start of construction on the Annapolis Renewable Energy Park, which will use more than 50,000 solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity on approximately 80 acres of a closed and capped Annapolis landfill. This project, when completed, will be the largest solar project exclusively installed on a closed landfill in the United States, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
