Widespread Power Outages Reported in Annapolis
and Surrounding Communities

Annapolis, MD (June 1, 2023) – BGE/Exelon has reported approximately 41,000 customers in the Annapolis area are without power. The widespread outage began around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Our best information is that a power disruption at the Cedar Park substation has impacted the Annapolis peninsula and surrounding communities. BGE is actively working on restoration efforts as safely and quickly as possible.

At this time, many traffic signals in the City of Annapolis are out. Drivers should use caution and treat intersections as four-way stops. Some intersections along the Forest Drive corridor have been restored (Chinquapin Round Road, South Cherry Grove Avenue and Spa Road).

The City of Annapolis Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has partially activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Residents should refrain from calling 9-1-1 unless there is an active emergency. The Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management is supporting Annapolis OEM and taking non-emergency calls at 410-222-0600.
