City of Annapolis Pool Opens for the
 Season on Saturday, May 27


(Annapolis, Maryland, May 23, 2023) — The City of Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department announces the Kenneth R. Dunn Municipal Pool at Truxtun Park opens this Saturday, May 27. The outdoor pool will be open daily through Labor Day (Monday, September 4.)


“My family is excited for another season at the pool,” said Mayor Gavin Buckley. “We know that it is really the start of summer when the pool opens.”


There are new offerings this year including more than 40 beginner swim lessons for youth, teens and adults, as well as morning, lunchtime and evening water aerobics.

  • Morning and evening water aerobics classes start next week on Tuesday, May 30 and Wednesday, May 31, respectively.

  • Lunchtime water aerobics start on Monday, June 14.

  • Swim lessons start the week of June 26.


For a complete list of swim lessons, dates and times, and descriptions of water aerobics, please go to pages 4 and 5 of the Summer 2023 Program Guide at www.annapolis.gov/programguide. Additionally, you may host a party at the pool on a Saturday or Sunday. There are three weekend time slots available:

  • 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • 2 to 4 p.m.

  • 5 to 7 p.m.


There are a few holiday hours and closures to note:

  • Monday, May 29 - the pool closes at 5 pm for Memorial Day

  • Saturday, June 24 - the pool is open 12-7 pm due to swim meet

  • Tuesday, July 4 - the pool closes at 5 pm for Independence Day

  • Saturday, July 8 - the pool is open 12-7 pm due to swim meet
