Annapolis City Council Confirms Sharon Elliott to
Anne Arundel Police Accountability Board
ANNAPOLIS, MD (July 25, 2022) – At the July 25, 2022 Special Meeting of the Annapolis City Council, council members confirmed the appointment of Sharon Elliott to the Anne Arundel County Police Accountability Board.
Ms. Elliott is a program manager with extensive experience in grants and cooperative agreements, including a detail with the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice in the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (Department of Justice). Her duties included supervising the work of the victim services working group to study issues related to law enforcement and the administration of justice. At the conclusion of that project, a report was issued to the Attorney General with a final report to the President.
“I want to bring my experience from the Presidential Commission and in the community to the PAB,” Elliott said during her recent testimony before the Public Safety Committee. “A lot of what I learned on the detail… really informed me on some of the issues surrounding policing. I want to bring that perspective and open up the conversation,” Elliott added.
The City of Annapolis is allocated one seat on the county’s state-mandated nine-member Police Accountability Board. Elliott joins eight county board members (confirmed in June by the Anne Arundel County Council), including:
Dr. Shawn Ashworth, educator and nonprofit leader
Barney Gomez, retired Special Agent and Vietnam veteran
Kymberly Jackson, attorney and law professor
Sarah Kivett, employee conduct investigator and former law enforcement officer
Dr. Kenneth Moore, pastor, professor, and retired firefighter
Jeanette Ortiz (chair), law and education policy expert
Daniel Watkins, Board-certified Nurse Executive and behavioral health professional
Anne Williams-Kinard, local business owner
