Annapolis Pride Parade and Festival Set for June 4; Mayor Buckley Delivers Pride Proclamation May 12

ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 12, 2022) - After a two-year hiatus, the second “annual” Annapolis Pride Parade and Festival is set to take place along the Inner West Street corridor on June 4, 2022 with the theme “Many Faces, One Pride.” On Thursday, May 12, Annapolis Mayor will read a Proclamation proclaiming June as “Pride Month,” in the City of Annapolis at 5 p.m. at the Graduate Hotel on West Street in Annapolis.

The June 4 Pride parade will step off at noon at the intersection of Amos Garrett Boulevard and West Street. The parade will continue along West Street (toward downtown) to a left on Calvert Street. The festival will take place on Inner West Street between Church Circle and Calvert Streets at the conclusion of the parade.

ROAD CLOSURES: Along the parade route on West and Calvert Streets, there will be rolling road closures. Please follow Annapolis Police direction. In addition, West Street will be closed between Calvert Street and Church Circle for both the festival, beginning at 12 p.m. until after conclusion of Inner West Street’s Dinner Under the Stars.

“Annapolis Pride had its first parade and festival in 2019 where I walked alongside my brothers and sisters and gave out free dad hugs,” said Mayor Gavin Buckley. “Recognizing the value of all is important to me both personally and as a public servant. We are One Annapolis.”

June is recognized worldwide as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Pride Month (LGBTQ+ Pride Month). This June marks the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City, an uprising to resist harassment and discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, which was a pivotal point for the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

PARKING: Paid parking at City garages will be available including Park Place, Gotts and Knighton. Information about additional garage and surface lot parking is available at: www.AccessAnnapolis.com
