Buckley on Gun Violence: ‘I Commend APD Officers for Quick Arrests and Ask Community for Help’

“Gun violence has shaken our community in the last few days. I have conferred with Annapolis Police Command Staff in an ongoing effort to gain an understanding of the violence in our community. As of Friday night, the Chief has authorized all Annapolis Police on call-up mode to ensure we have enhanced visibility on the streets of our City.

“The safety of this community is our top priority. The Chief also informed me that he has been in contact with our federal partners to step up their efforts with informants to gain intelligence and monitor social media for the drivers of this unacceptable violence.

“In the violence since Wednesday, there have been three shooting victims, all of whom are expected to survive.  Arrests have been made, but the cases remain open. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“I commend Annapolis Police officers for their quick arrests and I ask the community to help us by coming forward with tips and information. I need your help. Tell us if you see somebody or you know anyone housing illegal guns or people who use guns, for the sake of our communities and the people who live here, contact police or make an anonymous tip."
