Annapolis Tornado Town Hall Meeting for Homeowners, Renters and Businesses in Parole on Wednesday, Sept. 8
ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 6, 2021) – The City of Annapolis will host a Town Hall Meeting with targeted resource breakout sessions so that residents can ask questions and seek assistance in the aftermath of the Annapolis Tornado. The event will be held in the community center at Mt. Olive Community Life Center, 2 Hicks Avenue, Annapolis on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021 with Resource Center opening at 5 p.m. and the Town Hall beginning at 6 p.m.
The format will begin with a general briefing, where officials will give an overview and situation summary. From there, breakout sessions will convene separately with resources targeted to renters, homeowners and businesses. For updated resources, visit www.annapolis.gov/1832/Tornado-Response.
Mayor Gavin Buckley praised the efforts of residents, businesses owners, and volunteers as well as collaborative partners at the county and state who have worked with City officials to help recovery efforts. He said, “This is what Annapolis does. We come together to help one another and it is one of the reasons this is a great City. We are a loving community and when we see a need, we are united.”
Ward 3 Alderwoman Rhonda Pindell Charles, whose Ward was most impacted, likewise lauded various agencies, partners, and volunteers, as well as our residents and businesses. "We have always had a very resilient and powerful community. And in times like these, when we have actually witnessed a miracle - there has been no loss of life and basically no injuries - that's when our resolve is most tested and apparent."
The public is invited to attend this meeting, portions of which will be recorded for broadcast on the City of Annapolis Youtube.com channel. Transportation will be provided to residents with a pick up at 5 p.m. at the Community Center in Admiral Oaks and 5:30 p.m. at the Community Center in Annapolis Gardens.
