Traffic Signal Out at West Street and Calvert/Cathedral Street Intersection; Drivers Should Treat as Four-Way Stop
Annapolis, MD (June 17, 2021) – The traffic signal at the intersection of West Street and Calvert/Cathedral Street in downtown Annapolis is temporarily out of service due to an inoperable controller. The light is currently flashing red in all directions. Drivers should use caution and treat the intersection as a four-way stop. Temporary stop signs have been added to all four legs of the intersection.
The Department of Public Works has submitted an emergency purchase request for the needed replacement controller. At this time, it is unclear how long the emergency acquisition will take, but the department is canvassing suppliers to find the necessary replacement part.
Annapolis Police officers may be assigned to direct traffic if conditions warrant, particularly at high-volume times of day. Please be alert to traffic instructions and direction from police officers directing traffic in the intersection.
The Department of Public Works is prepared to make the necessary repairs as soon as the replacement controller is available.
