to Be Ready for the Arrival of Tropical Storm Isaias

After Refuse Pickup Tuesday Morning, Bring in Your Cans Immediately; Free Parking Available

ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 3, 2020) – The City of Annapolis is asking residents to make sure refuse cans are out by 6 a.m. and to bring in empty trash and recycling cans immediately following collection on Tuesday ahead of the expected arrival of strong winds and heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Isaias.  The City will have extra crews out in order to get the refuse picked up as quickly as possible. Trash cans and other loose objects can become projectiles in strong winds.

The City’s Department of Transportation will open Hillman Garage beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday evening. The garage will remain open and free for residents who may live in low-lying or flood-prone areas. Cars must be removed by 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Office of Economic Development reminds businesses in designated Recovery Zone areas to bring in any tables, chairs, and umbrellas, to store any tent equipment and to store anything else that is not tied down (planters, signage, promotional materials, etc.). Please prepare your businesses for the possibility of high winds, rain, and the potential for flooding. These steps should be taken as soon as possible.

The Food Giveaway scheduled for Tuesday, August 4th at noon at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center has been canceled.  The next Food Giveaway will be on Tuesday, August 11th at the People’s Park at noon.

The Office of Emergency Management non-emergency number is open to assist residents who may need help. Call 410-260-2211.
