NEWS RELEASE

HURRICANE AND STORMS NOTICE

The Annapolis Harbormaster is urging Mariners to prepare for Tropical Storm Isaias beginning now, Monday, August 3, 2020.  Currently, 76 transient moorings will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  All mariners should begin storm preparations immediately with special considerations for extremely high tides.

If possible, remove your boat from the water and secure it on land.

  • The Annapolis City Dock is currently open. As of noon on Monday, August 3, 2020, vessels are permitted to stay in Ego Alley, but must provide a current cell phone in case we have to close and vacate the docks. Vessels that do not move their vessels when notified to do so may be subject to removal by tow, at the owner’s expense.

  • There will be NO ANCHORING in city waters beginning at 8 pm on Monday, August 3, 2020. This includes Spa Creek and Back Creek.

  • All Mooring fields will remain open for vessels seeking shelter.

  • Harbormaster will be monitoring Channel 16 and 17 for mooring availability.

  • Pump-Out service is suspended until the weather stabilizes.

Mooring Ball Procedures for All 76 Moorings

  • Any vessel looking for a mooring will need to contact the Harbormaster at (410-263-7973).

  • All lines must be in excellent to new condition. Chaffing gear is recommended.

  • You must dedicate lines from the deck cleat for the port and starboard.

  • DO NOT ADD ADDITIONAL LENGTH TO THE DESIGNED MOORING PENDANTS.

Spa Creek and Weems Creek Bridge will not open if wind speeds reach 45mph.

The City of Annapolis and its Harbormaster will monitor and assess weather conditions relating to Tropical Storm Isiaisa. We are encouraging all mariners in city waters to download the Prepare Me Annapolis app to receive important push notifications on your smartphone. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices on the Apple and Google Play Store.
