Commercial Solid Waste Collection Permit

All commercial entities that engage in solid waste collection in the City of Annapolis are required to first obtain a permit from the Department of Public Works in accordance with the City code 10.16.225.  Granting of the permit shall be contingent upon the approval of collection equipment and disposal methods by the Director of Public Works, who may revoke any permit for cause.

Commercial Solid Waste Collection permits are issued on an annual basis every August.  

In order to obtain a City Commercial Solid Waste Collection Permit you must:

  • Complete an application.
  • List each vehicle (excluding roll-offs) that will be working in the City of Annapolis.  
  • Enclose a list of all commercial customers and addresses that you serve in the City of Annapolis.  Please include days serviced and types of containers.

Permit Fee:

Include with the application, the appropriate fee based on the number of vehicles being permitted.  Checks shall be made payable to the "City of Annapolis".

Vehicle Inspections:

The Department will conduct an inspection of each vehicle working in the City limits to determine suitability for solid waste operations.  Once your completed application and fee is received you will be notified that you can begin scheduling the vehicle inspections.  Inspections will be scheduled at 15 minute intervals beginning at 7:00am until 2:30pm.

  • Vehicles must be empty at the time of inspection.
  • Each vehicle shall have some type of clean up equipment on the vehicle.
  • Vehicles that have been scheduled and fail to show up without notifying the Department of Public Works will be charged a reinspection fee of $60.00.  This fee must be paid prior to rescheduling or reinspecting the vehicle.  All outstanding fees must be paid prior to receiving your Commercial Solid Waste Collection permit.
