Explorer Post 199

Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or are 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.

Purpose

Law Enforcement Explorer posts help youth to gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of law enforcement, Exploring offers experiential learning with lots of fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.

The Annapolis Police Department Explorer Post is designed to provide exciting and challenging training along with on the job experience for young people interested in a career in law enforcement. The Explorers participate in many phases of police work, but are not placed in dangerous situations. They may also ride-a-long with police officers, assist with traffic control, and are CPR certified. Explorers compete in scenario based competitions, both locally and nationally. The Police Explorer Program is one of the best ways for youth to become involved with their community in a positive way and learn about law enforcement at the same time. Youth are also taught leadership skills and the importance of service to the community. We are affiliated with the Learning for Life program, a division of the Boy Scouts of America.
