DAFINA "Young Ladies Destined for Greatness"

This after school program will introduce 6 to 18-year-old students, from under-served communities, to the world of culinary arts. Students will enjoy hands-on interactive learning in the Stanton Center's (Anne Arundel County-licensed) commercial kitchen. Various topics will be discussed such as obesity, healthy lifestyles and eating habits, nutrition and the food pyramid. The curriculum will consist of healthy cooking, culinary development, workforce readiness as well as basic life skills. Classes will be taught by Baltimore-native Ed Evans, a well-known chef in the Washington, DC Baltimore metropolitan area. Evans is a graduate of the Baltimore International Culinary College. Classes begin early October and take place the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, 5-6 p.m.
