Connecting with Local Non-Profits and Watershed Groups

Local watershed groups can be grant applicants on behalf of communities and may have some insight and perspective into where good projects that have a high benefit can go. Anne Arundel County has a treatment calculator for potential projects here (link). Watershed studies are studies that have pre identified areas that would have high environmental value. See our watershed library for past studies (link). Local environmental groups that have a restoration component are below.

Spa Creek Conservancy
Spa Creek Conservancy initiatives focus on developing and implementing restoration and protection programs as well as community educational programs.

Severn River Association

SRA works with communities to implement stormwater management projects throughout the watershed and build living shorelines at the water’s edge.

Arundel Rivers Federation

Arundel Rivers past projects range from multi-million dollar stream restoration projects, living shorelines, wetland creation, stormwater bioretention, and rain gardens.

The same groups also have project monitoring and other volunteer opportunities available.
