The MPDU Settlement Expense Assistance Program is designed for homebuyers needing assistance with down payment and closing costs associated with the purchase of an MPDU home in the City of Annapolis. Depending on your need for assistance, this program can provide up to $10,000 in assistance.
To be eligible for this program, you must:
Have an MPDU Certificate of Eligibility;
Be a graduate of a HUD-certified Homeownership Counseling Program; and
Be prequalified by a lender listed below or you may go to a lender of your choice.
Interest and Term
MPDU staff, in conjunction with your lender, will determine the loan amount. The city provides the funds to you as a loan; however, no payments are required and the loan carries a zero percent interest rate. The loans only require repayment upon sale or transfer of the property, or at the end of 10 years, whichever comes first. A lien for the loan amount will be placed on the property through a Deed of Trust.
Minimum Cash Contribution From Borrower
The homebuyer must contribute a minimum cash contribution of one percent of the sales price from their own funds.
How to Apply
An MPDU Eligibility Certificate Holder will have this information included in their Home Buyer Packet when the city notifies you of the availability of MPDUs for sale. You may also call us at 410-263-7961, ext. 7727.
