February 27, 2023: City staff and the design consultant met with the Germantown Homewood Civic Association's Poplar Trail Committee at the Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library to share preliminary concepts and precedents for Poplar Trail Improvements.
January 4, 2023: City of Annapolis is awarded $2.75 million for construction of the West Extension from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Transportation Alternatives Program
October 26, 2022: City of Annapolis is awarded $2.02 million for construction of the Poplar Trail Improvements and East Extension from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Recreational Trails Program. The grant award is administered by the Maryland Department of Transportation.
October 19, 2022: Existing Poplar Trail Site Survey Walk with Germantown Homewood Civic Association's Poplar Trail Committee
August 2022: an online Poplar Trail improvement survey was issued by the Germantown Homewood Civic Association. The survey received 150 responses and still active. Although it was not limited to GHCA members, promotion of the survey was limited and conducted only by the GHCA. The survey was advertised with signs along the trail which were visible to all trail users and by email to GHCA members. Results from the survey were shared with City staff and the design team who have reviewed them in coordination with the ongoing design process.
January 2022: Anne Arundel County in partnership with the City of Annapolis released the Poplar Trail Extension to South Shore Trail Feasibility Study which provides the 30% design for the West Extension of the WEE.
