Recycling, Refuse, and Yard Trim Containers

The City of Annapolis does not provide refuse containers, so make sure yours fits the criteria for efficient Collection Day needs.

Approved refuse containers:

  • Are durable, rust resistant and watertight containers
  • Have tight fitting lids and functional handles
  • Have a maximum capacity of 32 gallons unless it is a commercial grade 96 gallon trash cart equipped with a tipping bar.
  • Are marked with a minimum of 3 inch-high numbers indicating the address number from which the material is being collected.

Please place all refuse in plastic trash bags (with openings securely closed) before putting it in the container.  We'll tag refuse with a pink sticker and leave it at the curb if the contents are not bagged, all bags in the container, or the contents include household hazardous waste.

Received a Pink Tag - Make sure your material is compliance with the above requirements.  Then set back out on your next scheduled collection day.

We provide recycling and yard trim containers to our residential customers!

The City offers each residential customer a blue 64 gallon wheeled cart for recycling, limited to one per resident.  If this is too big or you need multiple containers for overflow,  we offer 32 gallon and 18 gallon containers.

The City offers each residential customer a green 64-gallon wheeled cart for yard trim, limit one per resident. If this is you need multiple containers you can use paper bags, a container marked with an "X", tied bundles measuring no more than 2feet by 4 feet in size. Branches must be less than 4 inches in diameter. NO PLASTIC BAGS. Please do not use the BLUE City recycling containers.

Pick up your container at our Public Works Services Facility or Public Works Administration.  Just bring a valid I.D. and a copy of your residential water bill for verification.
