The duties of the commission are to accept complaints relating to discrimination, to survey practices and conditions in the areas of public accommodation, employment, housing, recreation, employment, and education. To make recommendations concerning legislation, to advise and counsel business entities, and to mediate disagreements.
Types of Discrimination
The commission can accept complaints of discrimination on the basis of:
- Race
- Color
- Gender
- Genetic information
- Religion
- National origin
- Age
- Marital status
- Familial status
- Physical or mental disability
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity
- Genetic information
- Source of income
Filing a Complaint
To file a complaint, contact the commission staff liaison. To register a complaint, a formal complaint form (PDF) must be completed and returned. This form is fill-in-able online. Save it to your computer, then attach it to an email to the department on the header.

Speakers
Commission members are available to make presentations about its work to community, civic, neighborhood, business, nonprofit, religious and other organizations in Annapolis.
