Kids to Parks Day
Due to COVID-19, Kids to Parks Day was canceled in 2020. Please check back for next year's event in spring 2021.
Kids to Parks Day is an opportunity in the spring for youth and adults to enjoy local parks, trails and outdoor activities in our great town!
Launched in 2011, Kids to Parks Day is a nationwide celebration of the great outdoors organized by National Park Trust (NPT) and is designed to connect kids and families with their local, state, and national parks and public lands. By discovering and exploring our public lands, kids across the country can learn about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), and the history of our country. In addition, by teaching our kids to appreciate and enjoy our public lands, we can foster future outdoor enthusiasts and create the next generation of park stewards and caretakers of these important places. Because kids need parks – and parks need kids! Each year in preparation for Kids to Parks Day, which is always hosted on the third Saturday of May, NPT works with cities and towns, teachers, families, park and public lands officials and numerous partners across the country to invite kids of all ages to create their own adventures at one of the thousands of park events and programs featured on the NPT site.
