Permitting System

When Is A Permit Needed?

  • Any owner of real property who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or other structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, or to cause any such work to be performed, shall first make application to the Director for any permit required by the City Code to engage in such work and pay any applicable permit fees. An authorized agent of the owner may make application on behalf of the owner.
  • All exterior projects in the Historic District, whether or not exempted from a building permit, still require a certificate of approval in accordance with Chapter 21.56.
  • No building or other structure shall be demolished or moved until a permit has been obtained from the Director.

See City Code 17.12.022 - Building Permit-Required.
