Residential Parking Permits on Sale Now

The FY 2015 Residential Parking Permit sales began on Monday, June 23, 2014.  The City has set up an express service line in City Council Chambers the week of June 23 – 27 for all residents that are renewing their parking permits.  For residents who need to apply for the first time, they will need to go to the Department of Finance on the first floor of City Hall to apply. Both express service and first time applications should go to 160 Duke of Gloucester Street in Annapolis.

Anyone applying for a residential parking permit needs to show proof of residency in order to be eligible.  The application for FY 2015 can be downloaded at http://bit.ly/1lZNjRD

The following documents are required each time you apply for a residential parking permit.

  1. Completed and personally signed application form (3 copies, document above)
  2. Copy of current Maryland driver's license showing your name and address in the residential parking district.
  3. Copy of current vehicle registration card for each vehicle showing your name and address in the residential parking district.
  4. Check payable to City of Annapolis as calculated from the chart below for your district, number of vehicles, off-street parking availability (driveway, garage, parking space) at your address, and month of purchase.

If your current driver's license and/or current vehicle registration reflect an address outside the parking district, you must also provide one of the following to support your claim to residency in the parking district.

  1. Property Owner - Proof of property ownership and current residency: current tax bill or SDAT printout, and no current rental license at the property, OR
  2. Tenants - Copy of lease in your name for licensed residential rental property in the parking district, covering the permit period. (The parking permit expires with your lease; month-to-month lease not accepted), OR
  3. Military - Copy of documents issued by the U.S. military authorities proving your residency in the parking district or same requirement as Tenant.

Permitting a vehicle not legally owned by driver:

  • If you do not own the vehicle, you must provide certification from the vehicle owner that you have the right to possession.
  • If the vehicle is a rental: Copy of the current rental document which provides vehicle make, model, color, year, VIN and tag numbers and names you as the driver.
  • If the vehicle is a “company car”: Letter from company owner or official on company letterhead providing owner name, vehicle make, model, color, year, VIN and tag numbers and your name as exclusive driver of the vehicle.
  • If the vehicle is owned by another person (such as a parent or spouse): Our form or a letter from the owner stating you have exclusive right to possession of the vehicle, providing the residential address related to the parking permit, the make, model, color, year, VIN and tag numbers. The form or letter must include the original signature of the vehicle owner attesting to the accuracy of the information provided.

No permits will be issued for vehicles with unpaid City parking citations and the permit expires when the resident moves from the parking district or the lease expires. Finally, no refunds are paid on the unused portion of parking permit period.
