Annapolis Election Judges Needed

65 Additional Judges Needed

Annapolis, MD (6-5-13) Election Judges are urgently needed to work in the sixteen polling places throughout the City for the Tuesday, September 17, 2013 Municipal Primary and the Tuesday, November 5, 2013 Municipal General Elections. The judges selected must be available to work both the primary and general election dates.

A total of about 165 Election Judges will operate the polling places from 5:45 a.m. to approximately 9 p.m. and are a very important part of the electoral process. Election Judges are the only contact the Election Office has with the general public during voting hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and are responsible for administrating the actual voting procedures in each polling place.

Therefore, the Election Judge must be reliable, courteous, able to follow procedures exactly, and above all, possess good judgment.

Election Judge Qualifications:

  • An Election Judge must be a registered voter in the City of Annapolis or Anne Arundel County and able to speak, read, and write the English language.
  • While serving as an Election Judge, a Judge may not be a candidate, a campaign manager for a candidate, or a treasurer for a candidate or political committee.  
  •  While on duty, an Election Judge may not engage in any partisan or political activity.
All Election Judges are compensated for their services on Election Day and for attending a training class. Chief Election Judges are paid $208.00. All other Election Judges are paid $160.00. All Election Judges are paid $25.00 for attending mandatory training classes.
