Littmann Named Ward Five Alderman

Annapolis, MD (12-18-12) Annapolis Mayor Joshua J. Cohen is pleased to welcome Jared Littmann as the new City Alderman, representing Ward Five. Mr. Littmann was selected by the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee last night.

According to City Code, when an alderperson resigns within 15 months of the next regular City election, the Central Committee of the political party to which the alderperson belongs shall appoint the replacement.

Previous Ward Five Alderman Mathew Silverman stepped down on December 2 when it came to his attention that new responsibilities associated with his job at the Department of Justice would compromise the amount of time he could devote to his constituents.

“Mr. Littmann will bring a well-rounded perspective to the Council,” Mayor Cohen said. “As a businessman, husband, father, and soccer coach, Jared is experiencing the same challenges of any other family trying to make ends meet. And as the owner of the last locally-owned hardware store in Annapolis, he recognizes the value of local business and has earned the loyalty and trust of numerous Annapolitans. I am happy to welcome him on board and look forward to him getting to work.”

Jared Littmann, the owner of K&B True Value hardware store, is responsible for customer relationships, budgeting and allocation of resources, purchasing, pricing, marketing, operations, accounting, human resources, IT and legal issues of the business.

Prior to taking ownership of the family business in 2004, he was the Associate County Attorney in Montgomery County for four years.

Mayor Cohen will administer the oath of office to Jared Littmann at the beginning of the January 14 City Council meeting.
