Many people walk along West Street in Annapolis and this project enhances their safety. The sidewalks were not up to current ADA standards for wheelchair access. This section of MD 450 includes a commercial district from MD 2 to Homeland Avenue, a residential area, a public library from Homeland Avenue to Russell Street and a mixed use of commercial and residential area from Russell Street to Westgate Circle.
In recognition of Disability History and Awareness Month in Maryland, the timely completion of the West Street project is an example of collaborative partnership to provide and support safe, accessible transportation options for all pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders and drivers.
