Annapolis, MD (8-30-12) Annapolis Mayor Joshua J. Cohen and the MainStreets Annapolis Partnership (MAP) remind residents to take the Circulator trolley to and from the hotels and Inns to the Navy-Marine Corp Memorial Stadium, for the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) 2012 World Championship.

The Circulator trolley will run a special route on Saturday, September 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. so those parking at the stadium can catch the circulator trolley at Herbert Sachs Blvd, across the street from the Navy/Marine Memorial Stadium, with stops in West Annapolis:

  • Annapolis St & Giddings Ave
  • Annapolis St & Melvin Ave
  • Ridgley Ave & Melvin Ave

The trolley will go to Church Circle, where the free Central Business District Circulator will pick up DCA fans and take them to restaurants, hotels, shops, and the historic & maritime attractions throughout the downtown area.
The cost for the Circulator trolley to and from the Stadium is $2 per person, or an all-day pass is available for just $4 per person. Individuals will pay the.driver when boarding

MAP Executive Director, Lisa Craig, sees ease of travel from the Stadium through the business areas as critical to encouraging fans to patronize local businesses.   “We want to make it as convenient as possible for our visitors to travel around the downtown area, spending less time locating parking and more time enjoying the Historic District, our museums, restaurants, galleries, shops and other visitor attractions.”

Lynne Sherlock, President of the West Annapolis Business Affiliation is glad to have DCA fans visiting the West Annapolis neighborhood. “We’re getting the word out to our West Annapolis merchants and can’t wait to welcome DCA friends and family into our village shops and restaurants.”

With almost 50 MainStreets Annapolis Partnership businesses participating in the Plates & Perks promotion, it was important to welcome the estimated 20,000 Drum Corp participants and fans to Annapolis with this special Circulator Service.  Plates& Perks business in Eastport includes The Chart House which is just a short walk over the Eastport Bridge.

MAP will help kick of the festivities Thursday, August 30, at 5:00 p.m. at City Dock by distributing Plates & Perks cards.

"DCA at the Dock" includes free performances by the Annapolis Drum and Bugle Corps, Minnesota Brass, and Kidsgrove Scouts from the United Kingdom.
