Towne Park Already Making Upgrades to Parking Garages

Annapolis, MD (3-5-12) Four days after awarding a management contract to operate the City’s parking garages and lots, Annapolis Mayor Joshua J. Cohen announces that Towne Park is bringing the City parking facilities into the 21st century. Towne Park is accepting credit cards as a form of payment at all four City garages.

“This is one of those small things that make a big difference,” Mayor Cohen said. “In a technology-based society, it was strange that cash was the only form of payment prior to Towne Park’s upgrades. I know this is just the first of many improvements we will see from Towne Park.”

The seven year, $1.3 million contract covers all garage-related operating expenses such as payroll, supplies, business expenses and a $5,000 monthly management fee.  In addition, the budget includes the lease of more than $900,000 of parking equipment upgrades and $300,000 of parking facility upgrades, including public restrooms at the Hillman garage.

The City’s parking garages include:
•   Noah Hillman Parking Garage – 150 Gorman Street
•   Gotts Court Parking Garage – 25 Northwest Street
•   Knighton Parking Garage – 1A Colonial Avenue

•   Park Place - 5 Park Place
