Annapolis Hit and Run Suspect Charged

On January 10 Annapolis Police officers arrested 30 year old Jason Ryan Bowen of Colchester Ct in Pasadena for a hit and run accident involving a bicyclist. 

 

The accident occurred on August 23, 2011 in the area of 1342 Forest Dr.  The victim, 20 year old Manuel Minche, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma.  Mr. Minche was riding his bicycle on Forest Dr when he was struck from behind by the suspect vehicle.  Witnesses described the vehicle fleeing the scene as a minivan, possibly a cab.  Evidence recovered at the scene included a passenger mirror with blue painter’s tape.

 

After an extensive investigation the type and make of the vehicle was determined to be a 2001 Dodge van.  Two additional witnesses came forward and gave information about a possible suspect and vehicle.

 

The vehicle was located and Jason Bowen was identified as the registered owner and possible driver.  Evidence was recovered that showed Bowen was in the area at the time of the accident. 

 

Bowen was charged with failure to immediately stop vehicle at the scene of accident involving bodily injury, failure of vehicle driver in bodily injury accident to furnish required ID and license, reckless driving, negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid collision, and driver failed to exercise due care to avoid pedestrian collision.  Bowen was given $100,000 bond and, after a bail hearing, was released on his own recognizance.
