The Circulator is a great tool we are using as part of the city's Avoid a Parking Ticket Campaign in partnership with, downtown businesses and their associations (ABA, MAP and AEDC). This is a cooperative effort to get people comfortable using the City’s parking garages rather than parking in residential neighborhoods or overstaying the allotted time on parking meters, resulting in getting a ticket.

Mayor Joshua J. Cohen requested public input on proposed service enhancements and expansion of the City’s transit system. An informational meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, August 24 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 160 Duke of Gloucester Street.
The service enhancements have focused on increasing the frequency of the Brown, Green, Gold and Purple routes, while improving Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) service.
Also, the proposed expansion includes the Annapolis Circulator, which launched July 1. The Circulator was to be a 6-month pilot program that utilizes existing resources to shuttle riders from the City’s parking garages throughout the Central Business District. It is now over a year into existence and working hard for our Central Business District.
Annapolis Transit officials are working hard to implement the discussed shuttle service to Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI-Marshall) Airport and to Arundel Mills. The proposed service connecting at the Westfield Annapolis mall.
We are now nearing the end of phase two of the plan and moving into stage three.
Phase 1 - FY 2012:
• Annapolis Circulator (new service)
• Increase frequency of the Gold Route
• Improved ADA Service
Phase 2 - FY 2013:
• Increase frequency on the Brown, Green and Purple routes
Phase 3 - FY 2014:
• Provide service to Airport and Arundel Mills

Transit System Upgrade: Bus Stops and Shelters
The Department of Transportation is no longer in contract with Clear Channel who was responsible for our bus shelters.
We are now under a new contract with Outdoor Creative Design who will be responsible for our bus shelters. The new bus shelters should be up in about 6 weeks. The BUS STOPS have NOT moved and the shelters will go back in the same places they were before. Until the shelters are back up, drivers have been instructed to make sure they are stopping for people who may be waiting on a bus but not standing directly where the shelter was or people who are waving their hands by a stop. This way we won't accidentally drive past anyone waiting on one of our buses.
For more information, please contact the Annapolis Department of Transportation at 410-263-7964 or go to www.annapolis.com/transit.
Thank you for patience as we continue to improve and upgrade our transit system.
