Stanton's After-School Homework ClubAfter-School Homework Club (ages 6-18)

Designed to serve elementary, middle and high school students, this program helps to strengthen academic skills. Students receive tutoring in all core subjects, homework assistance, help with school projects. Have access to computers and the Web. Snacks are provided. Monday through Thursday, 3 - 5 p.m., Multi-Purpose Room. Children can now use one of the dozen new computers in the computer lab to work on homework and other school-related projects! Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County Awards a $10,000 "Ladders to Success" Grant (March 1, 2012) With this grant, the Stanton Center's After-School Homework Club will provide a new reading and math component for the more than 35 neighborhood students who attend the After-School Homework Club each week day. This new component will help students raise their reading and math skills up to grade level through the use of Smart Board technology and a curriculum that parallels their in-school experiences. Lassie Belt discusses Stanton's After School Homework Club with the Baltimore Sun (October 10, 2011)

Basketball Fundamentals Clinic (ages 6-15)

This co-ed basketball clinic is designed to teach the basic fundamentals, principles and strategies of the game. Participants learn basic shooting, defense, rebounding, dribbling and passing skills. Periodically expert guest speakers attend.

Deliciously Nutritious (ages 7-12)

Come explore and prepare healthy, good tasting food from around the world. Stimulate your fi ve senses and learn the importance of combining healthy choices with fun activity. Make your own cookbooks and much, much more. Eat what you prepare in class! Note any food allergies at registration and with the instructor, 6 weeks. Mondays, 4 - 5 p.m., Stanton Center Kitchen.

Friday Night Out (ages 6-14)

Each Friday a fi eld trip is taken; educational, for amusement, athletics/sports, cultural, and/or social. Children are  exposed to activities that they may otherwise not experience. Social, interpersonal and communication skills are emphasized. Permission slips required. Some extra fees are required. Fridays, 6 - 9 p.m., Locations vary.

Friday Night Splash Swimming (ages 6-12) - contact SCC for dates

This program is designed to teach beginner and novice swimmers the fundamentals and principals of swimming. Class focus will be on water adjustments and elementary swimming strokes. Classes will take place at the Anne Arundel County Olympic Swim Club. Classes are managed by USS Certified Jennifer Bistrack, United States Naval Academy Swim Coach. Fridays, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Junior Team Tennis (ages 10-17)

Youth learn the sport of tennis -- structured for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. This program takes place on Saturday, from November to April, at the Severn Valley Tennis & Fitness Club in Gambrills. Friday practices occur at PMRC. Instructed by Coach Robert C. Brown, Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) certified. All participants must register for a United States Tennis Association (USTA) membership. Cost is $25 per player.

Stanton Center Cupcake ClassLexie’s Cupcake Baking Class (ages 6-12)

The objective of this program is to teach children how to bake cupcakes from scratch. Each child will have a specific job in the commercial kitchen, for example, stirring the butter, beating the eggs, filling the cupcake holders with batter or clean-up responsibilities. 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, 5 - 6 p.m. Begins November 2nd and goes through April 18th.

"Start The Adventure In Reading" (STAIR) Program (for 2nd grade children)

STAIR, in partnership with Annapolis Elementary School, and First Presbyterian Church, Annapolis Elementary School second grade students will have additional help with one-on-one tutors in reading. Snacks are provided.

The Touchstones Discussion Project (ages 10-17, boys)

Participants in this program build critical thinking and leadership skills, by learning appropriate listening and speaking skills for communicating with their peers. At the core of the Touchstones Program, the boys  review shorts texts from the humanities that serve as starting points for collaborative discussions. Participants share opinions, beliefs, and ideas to gain a deeper understanding of their relationship to one another and their community. The Touchstones Discussion Project takes place October through June.

Stanton Center 17 & Under BasketballZastro Simms Youth Basketball Leagues (ages 8-13) 

For 28 years, the ZSYBL has been a premier league in Annapolis. The leagues are both competitive and non-competitive, based on skills and age. All programs take place in the Stanton Center gymnasium.
