AAMC Outreach Clinic

The Anne Arundel Medical Center sponsors a free medical and dental clinic at the Stanton Community Center, which is supported by a network of dedicated physician volunteers, nurses, and other professionals in the community. The Annapolis Outreach Center offers a "safety-net of care" to those who do not have health insurance, have limited health coverage, or do not have access to health services for a variety of others reasons. The Center's health care team consists of a nurse coordinator, case manager, nutrition counselor, and Spanish speaking patient advocate. They support the doctors who volunteer their time and talents to offer weekly health clinics, children's health clinics, and other specialty clinics throughout the month. The Center's care team works with clients to improve lifestyles and prevent illness; there are special programs for people with diabetes and/or hypertension. We Care & Friends

We Care & Friends help individuals who have no where else to turn. The organization provides people with short and long-term counseling in order to help them make improvements in their lives. We Care & Friends is dedicated and committed to individuals and the community and provides a positive outlook to those who need care. (410-269-1595) We Care & Friends is an organization that was established in 1991 by Larry Griffin. Based at the Stanton Community Center, the main objective of the program is to reach out and help children who are at risk, and also those who have a substance abuse problem.

One program for "at risk" children is the Summer Workout Program sponsored by Gold’s Gym in Crofton, Maryland. The Children meet with a trained instructor on Mondays and Wednesdays. They are taken through a series of workouts which include weightlifting, aerobics, and soon will include a meditation class. Currently there are 15 participants in this program.

Another program is "A Box of Rain", the children meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they are taught how to sail and kayak. They also participate in water sports, swimming, fishing, and crabbing. Currently there are 25 participants in this program.

The children also participate in Brain Games, they play chess, checkers, backgammon, and other various games. This is done to instill a sense of problem solving using their minds instead of having them result to volatile behavior.

A Drum Class is also offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This class promotes spiritual healing and also a self-esteem builder. The Food Program is offered Monday through Thursday and currently feeds 250 - 300 people weekly. The Substance Abuse Program is also offered to those in need of help. An average of 15 people per week seek assistance from this program.
