Bike to Work Day 2013
On Friday May 17th, 2013, Annapolis and regional bicycle commuters will celebrate Bike 2 Work Day by joining the Annapolis Regional Transportation Management Association (ARTMA), the Annapolis Department of Transportation and the Baltimore Metropolitan Council from 7:00 a.m. ~ 8:45 a.m. at the Annapolis City dock (next to the Market House). Over 300 riders registered for the event in 2012, which included refreshments, t-shirts, giveaways and prizes, all aimed at showing support for area bicyclists. At the end of the rally riders rode up Main Street, which highlighted that cyclists have rights on the road too!
The event is one of the biggest in the region and featured local sponsors from Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company, Whole Foods Market Annapolis, and the Anne Arundel County Department of Health. Capital Bicycle and the Bike Doctor Annapolis were also represented and conducted bicycle safety checks as well as Bike Doctor giving away a brand new bike as a prize. WNAV provided live event radio coverage.

May is National Bike Month and Clean Air Month. With our region's major traffic congestion and air pollution problems, one way to relieve these problems is to turn car commuters into bike commuters, especially for short commutes of five miles or less. The Bike 2 Work Day rally is a great way to promote the benefits of bicycling and we need your support! Click here for information about cycling in Annapolis.
Bike to Work Day and National Bike Month is just the start however. There is no reason why biking to work cannot be a 24/7, 365 days a year part of your life.
