Before & After School Child Care in Annapolis area Elementary Schools

The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department has provided child care for elementary age children since 1985. We offer a Before School Program and After School Program. If you have any additional questions, please contact Caryn Walaski at ccwalaski@annapolis.gov or 410.263.7958.

We now have the forms available for the 2013-2014 school year! Please refer to the 2013-2014 Child Care Brochure for detailed information. The specific school forms can be found on the side link of this page or click here.

RecCampKidsBefore School Program

This program consists of crafts, coloring, and board games that stimulate the imagination and keep the students entertained. Quiet and low key activities are planned so that children do not become too involved prior to the start of school. Students are released to their classrooms when the first bell rings.

After School Program

This program offers structured activities that are planned for the students. Students choose from a variety of activities including sports, games and crafts. A quiet room is provided where children may read and do homework each day. No child is required to take part in planned activities, but active participation is encouraged.

Registration begins in April of each year for the following fall. Enrollment is accepted throughout the school year when space is available. Registration materials are available at each program location and at the Recreation Center. Our objective is to provide high quality care and supervision for students in pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade. We want our Child Care Program to be a place where children have positive experiences and the parents feel secure and comfortable leaving their children.

The program follows the Anne Arundel County Public Schools' Board of Education calendar, on major holidays the program is closed; however, we do offer all day care on teacher workdays.

Inclement Weather Information - If the school is closed prior to 7 a.m., then the child care program is closed. If school closes prior to the end of the regular school day, then the child care program opens immediately. On these particular weather related days, we ask that parents come to pick their child up by 4:30 p.m. for safety reasons as the roads will be treacherous for you and for our staff. ARPD is always accepting applications for qualified personnel. Please call 410.263.7958 for more information.
