Bulk Items

Bulk item pickup is available without request.  Residents may place a maximum of three (3) bulk items at the curb each refuse collection day.

Items that fit in a refuse container should be placed in the container.  Bulk items that do not fit in a refuse container may be placed at the curb near the refuse container.

Bulk items include household items such as:
  • Sofas, couches
  • Tables, chairs
  • Beds, mattresses, box springs
  • Dressers, bookcases, shelving, cabinets
  • Table and floor lamps
  • carpets, rugs, mats
  • Televisions
  • Sinks, toilets
  • Doors, windows
We do not accept construction materials. (Examples: lumber, drywall, concrete, tile)

The City cannot enter private property to collect the discarded bulk refuse, nor will the city collect building materials generated by homeowners or contractors, or material arising from the demolition of buildings.

Free disposal of electronic items is available at our e-cycling drop-off site at 935 Spa Rd. Check in at the trailer. Anne Arundel County also provides e-cycling.

Metal Bulk Item pickup shall be scheduled with the Department of Public Works. Collection will be scheduled on Wednesday collection. You may schedule a Metal Bulk Pickup online with the click of a button or by calling 410-263-7949. City staff will notify you of your collection day via phone or e-mail.

Metal bulk items include household items such as:

  • Washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators (The law requires that doors be removed from any refrigerator or freezer in order to protect children.)
  • Grills, patio furniture, tables
  • Lawn mowers
  • Bicycles
  • Hot water heaters
  • Play and exercise equipment
  • Shelving
  • File cabinets

Metal Bulk must be set out by 6:00 am, but not earlier than 6:00 pm the night before your scheduled collection.
