APD Daily Report 03/03/14

In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 259 calls for service and arrested 45 people.

Good News – On 03/02 at 7:35pm officers arrested two people for possession of CDS with the intent to distribute and got a loaded gun off the streets of Annapolis.  Officers were in the area of Newtowne Dr and Juliana Circle when a vehicle was observed failing to stop at a stop sign.  When the officer approached the vehicle he smelled a strong odor of marijuana.  Upon searching the vehicle a small amount of marijuana and a grinder were discovered inside, as well as a loaded pistol in the side door pocket.  A further six bags of marijuana, together weighing nearly 60 grams, were discovered in the vehicle’s trunk.  The driver, Paul Born, 38, of Lothian, and the passenger, Jennifer Palmer, 29, of Elkridge were arrested and both charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia, handgun on person, handgun in a vehicle, possessing a loaded gun in a vehicle, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, use of a firearm in a felony, and possessing a gun during a drug trafficking crime.  Palmer was released from the Jennifer Road Detention Center after posting $35,000 bond and Born is still being held on $35,000 bond.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400001020 – Unit block of Tiburon Ct - 02/28 at 11pm to 03/01 at 8am:  A pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and credit cards were stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400001024 – 1300 block of Stonecreek Rd – 02/28 at 7:30pm to 03/01 at 9am:  DVDs and credit cards were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Assault – 201400001026 – 1400 block of Tyler Av – 03/01 at 8:45pm:  Officers responded to the area for a report of a subject being held at gunpoint and then for reports of shots fired.  Upon arrival officers could not locate a victim or suspect.  At 9:15pm officers were notified that an adult male arrived at Anne Arundel Medical Center reporting he had been stabbed in the leg in the 1400 block of Tyler Av.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Michael Prout at 410-268-9000 ext. 7209 or msprout@annapolis.gov

Armed Robbery – 201400001035 – 1800 block of Copeland St – 03/02 at 4:30am:  Annapolis Police Department received a call from a citizen saying they saw a man and a pregnant woman being held at gunpoint in the 1800 block of Copeland St.  Officers arrived on scene and one of the victims pointed to the suspects fleeing the neighborhood in a stolen vehicle.

Officers pursued the vehicle to Tyler Ct where the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.  During the chase the suspects threw a gun from the vehicle which was recovered by officers.  A shotgun was recovered a short time later and is also believed to have been thrown from the vehicle.  After a brief foot chase both the driver and the passenger were arrested.  They were identified as Devery Kelley, 24, of Glen Burnie and Cornell Robinson, 44, of Washington D.C.  Kelley and Robinson were charged with numerous robbery and assault charges.  Kelley is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $275,000 bond and Robinson is being held without bond. 

The pregnant female victim was reported to be in labor prior to the robbery and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

A third suspect is believed to have fled the location of the robbery in an unknown vehicle.  Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the third suspect is asked to call Detective Michael Prout at 410-268-9000 ext. 7209 or msprout@annapolis.gov
