APD Daily Report 07/28/14

In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 367 calls for service and arrested 45 people.

Theft from Vehicle
– 201400003717 – 1400 block of Virginia St – 07/24 at 4pm to 07/25 at 8am:  A silver Apple Macbook Pro laptop computer was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Theft of Bicycle – 201400003718 – 1900 block of West St – 07/25 from 2am to 10am:  A purple Magna mountain bicycle locked to a railing was stolen from outside an apartment.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400003719 – 1500 block of Ritchie La – 07/24 at 7pm to 07/25 at 10:45am:  Two small cloth change purses, one red and the other blue, were stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle.

Burglary – 201400003720 – 200 block of Duke of Gloucester St – 07/24 from 5:30pm to 7pm:  After entering through an unlocked rear door two HP laptop computers were stolen from a business.

Theft of Bicycle – 201400003741 – 1000 block of Norman Dr – 07/26 from 12:10am to 12pm:  An unsecured orange Mongoose boy’s bicycle was stolen from outside the apartment building.

Burglary – 201400003743 – 700 block of Pearson Point – 07/23 from 12pm to 4pm:  A matte black Specialized Sirrus Elite hybrid bicycle, a white women’s Giant Escape Two bicycle with neon green lettering, a black bicycle helmet, and a white bicycle helmet were stolen from an open garage.

Burglary – 201400003747 – Unit block of Cornhill St – 07/26 from 3am to 4pm:  The rear door to the business was forced open, but nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Burglary – 201400003754 – 300 block of Chesapeake Av – 07/27 at 12:05am:  Officers saw a man carrying a leaf blower on a bicycle and stopped him.  It was later determined that the leaf blower was stolen from an unlocked shed in the area.  Charges are pending for the man.

Armed Robbery – 201400003758 – 1100 block of Tyler Av – 07/27 at 3:15am:  Four adult men were sitting outside on the back porch of a home when they were approached by a man who pointed a handgun at them and demanded money.  The man fled on foot after taking two cell phones and a rosary.

Burglary – 201400003760 – Unit block of Lee St – 07/26 at 5:30pm to 07/27 at 11am:  The front door to the business was forced open and two 24” Hitachi flat screen TVs were stolen. 

Theft from Vehicle – 201400003778 – Unit block of Silverwood Cir – 07/27 at 8pm to 07/28 at 4am:  A 64GB Apple iPod was stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle.

Watch Your Bike Program
So far in July, there have been 18 bicycles reported stolen in Annapolis.  The Annapolis Police Department has a Watch Your Bike program.  The program records your bicycle's serial number, manufacturer, and color in our database.  Annapolis residents can contact Cpl. Craig Medley at 410-268-9000 ext. 7225 or cemedley@annapolis.gov for more information.  Neighborhood associations can contact Cpl. Medley if they want to hold a community registration.

Green Dot MoneyPak Scams
Watch out for Green Dot MoneyPak scams. Recently an Annapolis business was scammed by a caller asking for payment for utility bills by Green Dot MoneyPak cards.
