APD Daily Report 06/30/14

In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 321 calls for service and arrested 32 people.

Good News – On 06/28 at 7:47pm officers recovered a stolen dirt bike in the 1300 block of Tyler Av.  An officer saw a dirt bike being driven on Forest Dr near Spa Rd.  There were two riders on the bike and neither were wearing helmets.  The officer anticipated the driver of the dirt bike would head across a field into the Robinwood community and was there when the dirt bike arrived.  The two riders dropped the dirt bike and fled on foot.  The dirt bike was still in motion when the riders fled and the officer was almost struck by the bike.  Officers were able to apprehend the driver and rider in the 100 block of Rosecrest Dr, both are 14 year old boys.  The driver, from Severn, was charged on juvenile citation with motor vehicle theft, fleeing and eluding, assault, and driving without a license.  He was released to his guardian.  The passenger, from Annapolis, was charged with motor vehicle theft and released to his guardian.  The dirt bike was stolen from Anne Arundel County overnight on 06/26.

Theft – 201400003196 – Unit block of Bunche St – 06/26 at 9pm to 06/27 at 3:45pm:  A dark green push lawn mower was stolen from the rear yard of a home.

Burglary – 201400003206 – 800 block of Chester Av – 06/28 at 12:15am:  The resident was home when she heard the rear basement door opening.  She immediately called the police.  Officers discovered the screen to the rear door lying on the ground and the rear door open, but with the interior security chain still attached.  The resident did not see anyone in the rear yard and officers did not locate anyone in the area.

Stolen Vehicle – 201400003210 – 200 block of Hanover St – 06/27 at 8:30pm to 06/28 at 7:10am:  A silver 2006 Acura 35RL SUV, MD reg. 713M766, was stolen from the driveway of a home.  Earlier in the week a spare key was stolen out of the vehicle.  This theft was unreported.  The vehicle has an Annapolis residential parking permit sticker on the rear window, scratches on the driver’s side front bumper, a cracked passenger side rear light, and damage to the rear bumper.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400003220 – 100 block of Porter Dr – 06/27 at 7pm to 06/28 at 8pm:  A black bag containing an Apple laptop computer, 500GB external hard drive, and a car charger, a grey bag containing business documents, and sets of keys to two other vehicles were stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400003237 – 500 block of S. Cherry Grove Av – 06/28 from 3:15pm to 3:40pm:  An Apple iPad 2 in a pink case was stolen from the rear seat of a vehicle left parked with the windows down.
