APD Daily Report 06/02/14

In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 285 calls for service and arrested 32 people.

Good News – On 05/30, acting on a tip from a citizen, officers recovered a bicycle stolen from the 1700 block of Hunt Meadow Dr on 05/26.  A 15 year old boy from Annapolis was arrested and charged with theft.  He was released to his guardian.  The bicycle had been spray painted black.  It was returned to the owner.

Theft of Bicycle – 201400002715 – 1200 block of Youngs Farm Rd – 05/24 from 8pm to 10pm:  A pink Vertical Metreon girl’s bicycle was stolen from the front porch of the home.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400002741 and 2742 – Amos Garrett Av near Spa View Av – 06/01 at 12:23am:  An observant citizen saw James Battle, 20, of Annapolis enter an unlocked vehicle.  Three boys were outside the vehicle with Battle.  The citizen called out to them and they fled the area on foot.  Officers were able to locate all four suspects.  One was identified as James Battle.  The other three were a 17 year old and two 16 year olds, all from Annapolis.  Around the same time this was occurring, a theft from an unlocked vehicle in the unit block of Streamwood Ct was reported.  Property taken from that vehicle was discovered in the possession of Battle and the juveniles.  Battle was charged with theft and two counts of rogue and vagabond and released by the District Court Commissioner.  One 16 year old and the 17 year old were charged with theft and two counts of rogue and vagabond and released to their guardians.  The other 16 year old was charged with theft and two counts of rogue and vagabond and taken to Cheltenham Youth Facility.

Stabbing – 201400002724 – 700 block of Newtowne Dr – 05/30 at 11:09pm:  The adult male victim was walking in the area when three men approached him.  One of the men swung at him, stabbing him with an unknown object in the arm and leg.  The victim was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center and released.

Theft of Bicycle – 201400002733 – Eastport Bridge – 05/31 at 3:10pm:  A black Huffy Beach Cruiser bicycle with white wall tires and a small mirror on the left handlebar was stolen from the bridge. 

Robbery – 201400002737 – 1000 block of Monroe St – 05/31 at 9:13pm:  The adult male victim was walking in the area when he was confronted by three male suspects.  The suspects threatened to stab the victim and then went through his pockets, taking money.  The victim pushed away from the suspects and fled on foot.  No weapon was seen.

Armed Robbery – 201400002738 – Unit block of Melrob Ct – 05/31 at 9pm:  A driver was making a delivery in the area and when he returned to his car he was approached by three men.  Two of the men displayed guns and they demanded money.  The driver turned over his wallet and the three fled on foot.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400002746 – Unit block of Spa Dr – 05/31 at 9pm to 06/01 at 6:15am:  The lock to the van door was removed and a DeWalt black and yellow tool bag, a Rigid 18V cordless drill and impact driver combo kit with radio, a Rigid 10” compound miter saw, and a Paslode trim nailer were stolen from the vehicle.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400002749 – 600 block of Severn Island Ct – 05/30 at 8:30am to 06/01 at 8am:  The lock to the van door was removed and a tool bag, a 3800 PSI DeWalt power washer, a hose, a Stihl blower, and a DeWalt miter saw were stolen from the vehicle.

Theft from Vehicle – 201400002753 – 700 block of S Cherry Grove Av – 06/02 from 12:50am to 1:07am:  A Mary Kay bag containing prescription medication and two sterling silver bracelets was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
