APD Daily Report 03/11/14

In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 95 calls for service and arrested 11 people.

Stolen and Recovered Vehicle – 201400001187 – Unit block of Town Pines Ct – 03/10 at 9pm:  On 03/10 at 10pm an officer pulled over a grey 2003 Lincoln Town Car with suspended registration in the 500 block of South Cherry Grove Av.  The vehicle stopped and then pulled off, driving to the 800 block of Betsy Ct where the driver and sole occupant fled the vehicle on foot.  Officers in the area could not locate the driver.  Upon contacting the vehicle owner it was learned that the vehicle had been stolen.  The owner said that since early February he has left the vehicle parked, unlocked, with the keys inside in the unit block of Town Pines Ct.  The owner also told officers that a friend called him on 03/10 at 9pm to tell him the vehicle was being driven by an unknown person.

Pedestrians, Walk Smart!  Drivers, Do your Part!
With the recent warm weather there are more people out walking and running in Annapolis.  The Annapolis Police Department reminds pedestrians and drivers alike to be careful, responsible, and watch out for one another.  A pedestrian can be as easily distracted by using a cell phone as a driver.  Pedestrians should cross the road at a crosswalk or at an intersection.  Drivers should come to a complete stop at the intersection stop line, and stop for pedestrians who are in a crosswalk, even if it is unmarked.  For more information about pedestrian safety visit the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration’s Pedestrian Safety webpage at http://www.sha.maryland.gov/index.aspx?pageid=376
