APD Daily Report 09/03/13

In the last 96 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 378 calls for service and arrested 36 people.

Good News – 201300004124 – On 08/30 Ronald Hall, 46, of Annapolis was arrested for an armed robbery that occurred the same day at Tienda Latina Emmanuel Grocery Store located at 1407 Forest Dr.  On 08/30 at 12:20pm Hall entered the store, pointed a handgun at the cashier and ordered her to open the cash register.  He took money from the register and fled on foot across Forest Dr.  Officers responded to the area and located Hall in the 200 block of Hilltop La.  Hall confessed to the robbery.  He has been charged with armed robbery, robbery, first and second degree assault, theft less than $1,000, handgun on person, use of a firearm in a felony or violent crime, and reckless endangerment.  He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $400,000 bond.

Theft from Vehicle – 201300004129 – Newman St – 08/29 to 08/30:  Numerous items were taken from a vehicle.  A tool was used to gain access to the locked vehicle through the driver’s side door causing damage to the window.

Theft of Bicycle – 201300004131 – 1000 block of Bay Ridge Av – 08/30 at 4pm:  A beige and brown 2003 Free Spirit bicycle with a yellow water bottle holder and black duct tape around the handlebars was stolen from in front of a business.  The owner left the bicycle unsecured outside the business and when returning he saw a man riding away on it.

Burglary – 201300004132 – Unit block of Marcs Ct – 08/30 from 3pm to 3:45pm:  An unlocked apartment was entered and one of the bedrooms was ransacked.  Nothing appeared to be missing from the residence.

Burglary – 201300004141 – Unit block of West Washington St – 08/30 at 4:45pm to 08/31 at 9am:  The doors to the maintenance room were forced open, but nothing was taken.

Armed Robbery – 201300004193 – Copeland St at Bywater Rd – 09/03 at 1am:  Two women and a man were walking in the area when they noticed two male subjects walking behind them.  Both men wore masks and one of the men displayed a handgun, demanding the women’s purses.  One of the women ran across the street and one of the men followed her, eventually taking her purse.  The other woman refused to give up her purse to the man holding the handgun and he fired one shot over the woman’s shoulder.  The two men then fled on foot on Bywater Rd heading towards Belle Dr.  The woman who refused to give up her purse was treated on scene for an abrasion on her shoulder from the hot gunpowder.  The purse taken is described as a black leather purse with black flowers on the sides.

The APD One Mile Challenge to benefit Special Olympics Maryland will be held on Saturday, September 7th starting at 8am.  This is a scenic 1 mile run through historic downtown.  Participants can run, jog, or walk. Dogs and strollers are welcome.  You can register at www.annapolis1mile.com
