APD Daily Report 08/22/13

In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 87 calls for service and arrested 12 people.

Theft from Vehicle – 201300003790 – 400 block of Captains Cir – 08/07 at 9am to 08/12 at 12:30pm:  A wallet was stolen from a vehicle after the front driver’s window and rear passenger’s window were broken.

Robbery – 201300003888 – 200 block of Bertina Nick Way – 08/17 at 3:10pm:  A man was sitting in a parked vehicle when he was approached by a male subject asking for a cigarette lighter.  When the man turned to face the subject he was sprayed in the face with pepper spray.  While the man was affected by the spray a purse inside the vehicle was stolen.

New School Year
Anne Arundel County Schools begin the new school year Monday, August 26.  Parents, students, teachers, and bus drivers will be headed to school.  Please be cautious and watch out for them.   

Annapolis Police Department One Mile Challenge
The APD One Mile Challenge to benefit Special Olympics Maryland will be held on Saturday, September 7th starting at 8am.  This is a scenic 1 mile run through historic downtown.  Participants can run, jog, or walk. Dogs and strollers are welcome.  You can register at www.annapolis1mile.com

Special Olympics Maryland provides free sports training and competition programs for intellectually disabled children and adults year round.  These programs increase the participant’s social skills and self-confidence.  The programs also improve their health and well-being.  To find out more about Special Olympics Maryland go to www.somd.org.  If you can’t participate in the APD One Mile Challenge to benefit Special Olympics Maryland please consider sponsoring someone for this worthy, very helpful cause.
