APD Daily Report 08/05/13
In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 281 calls for service and arrested 24 people.
Armed Robbery – 201300003618 – 1200 block of West St – 08/02 at 7:40am: A man entered the gas station and asked for a pack of cigarettes. He produced a handgun, threatened the employee, and demanded money and cigarettes. The man left on foot with money and 53 packs of Newport cigarettes, also taking the employee’s purse. The suspect is described as an African American male 30 to 50 years old, 5’11”, 180 lbs, with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, red short sleeve polo shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes.
Theft from Vehicle – 201300003619 – 100 block of Granville Av – 08/01 at 8pm to 08/02 at 8:50am: Money and the vehicle’s spare key and registration card were taken from an unlocked vehicle.
Auto Theft – 201300003659 – 400 block of Oaklawn Av – 08/04 from 3:30am to 6:30am: A brown 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe, MD reg. 653489M, was stolen from the street. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key beneath the driver’s side floor mat.
Theft of Bicycle – 201300003663 – 300 block of Severn Av – 08/04 from 1:30pm to 1:35pm: A silver men’s mountain bicycle was stolen from the rear of the business. The bicycle was not secured.
National Night Out 2013
National Night Out 2013 will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6 from 4pm to 7pm at the Boys and Girls Club of Annapolis at 121 South Villa Avenue. Annapolis Police Department One Mile Challenge
The APD One Mile Challenge to benefit Special Olympics Maryland will be held on Saturday, September 7th starting at 8am. This is a scenic 1 mile run through historic downtown. Participants can run, jog, or walk. Dogs and strollers are welcome. You can register at www.annapolis1mile.com.
Special Olympics Maryland provides free sports training and competition programs for intellectually disabled children and adults year round. These programs increase the participant’s social skills and self-confidence. The programs also improve their health and well-being.
