APD Daily Report 07/24/13
In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 111 calls for service and arrested 15 people.
Good News – On 07/23 Orlando Jones, 28, of Annapolis was arrested and charged in reference to the shots fired call in the 1300 block of Tyler Av on 07/20. Through investigation Jones was identified as a shooter in this incident. Jones was arrested and charged with attempted first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony, reckless endangerment, handgun on person, discharging a firearm, and four counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm. He is being held without bond.
On 07/16 a robbery was reported in the 100 block of Brightwater Dr. Through investigation three subjects involved in the robbery have been arrested. Jaquan Smith, 17, of Annapolis has been charged as an adult with robbery, first degree assault, four counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, four counts of conspiracy to commit first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment, and theft less than $100. Smith is being held on $120,000 bond. Additionally, two 15 year old males were charged on juvenile citations with the same charges as Smith. Burglary – 201300003444 – 1800 block of Forest Dr – 07/23 from 2am to 4am: A fenced business storage lot was broken into. A hole was cut in the fence to gain access. Once inside thieves cut locks off of six storage sheds and forced open thirteen vehicles parked on the lot. The total value of items taken is at least $38,000.
Stolen Vehicle – 201300003448 – Unit block of Lincoln Ct – 07/23 at 2am: A 2007 white Ford Econoline E150 van, MD reg. 92102CD, was taken. The van has windows in the back doors and no markings. The van was used in the burglary in the 1800 block of Forest Dr.
Attempted Theft from Vehicle – 201300003464 – 100 block of Brightwater Dr – 07/23 at 11pm: An observant citizen saw a man, later identified as Juan Diaz Diaz, 24, of Annapolis, try to enter a locked, parked vehicle. The citizen called the police and officers located Diaz Diaz in the area. Diaz Diaz was identified as the man attempting to enter the vehicle. He was arrested, charged with rogue and vagabond, and released by the Court Commissioner.
