In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 302 calls for service and arrested 26 people.
Good News – On Saturday 05/25 Samuel Joyce, 43, of Annapolis was arrested for breaking into a storage cage and stealing scrap metal. On 05/25 at 2:40pm in the 1800 block of Margaret Av the business owner saw Joyce inside a storage cage. The owner and a friend confronted Joyce as they called the police. Joyce assaulted the owner in his attempt to escape, but officers caught him near the footpath on South Cherry Grove Av. Joyce was arrested and charged with second and fourth degree burglary, theft, first degree and two counts of second degree assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment. He is being held on $150,000 bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center. A possible accomplice left the area in a gold Nissan Frontier pick up truck prior to police arriving.
Theft from Vehicle – 201300002378 – 300 block of Sixth St – 05/25 from 12pm to 1pm: A Stella and Dot grey alligator skin wallet was stolen from a purse that was left on the rear passenger side seat of the vehicle. One of the vehicle’s windows had been left open.
Theft from Vehicle – 201300002385 – 900 block of Spa Rd – 05/25 from 3:30pm to 5pm: A tan and dark tan leather Michael Kors purse was stolen rear driver’s side seat of the vehicle. The vehicle’s window was smashed to gain access.
Theft from Vehicle – 201300002394 – 1100 block of West St – 05/25 at 7pm to 05/26 at 11:30am: Four Bridgestone Turanza 215/55/R17 tires and four factory 17” five lug, ten spoke Toyota silver alloy wheels were taken from two vehicles on the dealership lot.
Theft of Bicycle – 201300002397 – 1600 block of Bay Ridge Av – 05/23 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm: An unsecured grey 2009 Specialized Globe bicycle with grey and red handle grips, tan leather seat, and grey wheels was taken from the side of a residence.
Theft of Motorcycle – 201300002400 – 1900 block of Westbridge Dr – 05/25 at 4pm to 05/26 at 8pm: A black, silver, and yellow 2006 Suzuki GSXR 1000cc motorcycle, MD reg. D65856, was stolen from the parking garage.
The Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is scheduled for today at 10am. The Parade starts at Amos Garrett Blvd and West St and travels down West St to Church Circle and then down Main St to the City Dock. The ceremony will take place at the City Dock after the parade. Road closures for the parade will start at 8am for Amos Garrett Blvd and Constitution Av, and at 9:45am all streets along the parade route. Also, City offices will be closed today for Memorial Day.
