APD Daily Report 05/23/13

In the last 24 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 95 calls for service and arrested 11 people.

 

Good News - The armed robbery which was previously reported to have occurred in the unit block of West St on 05/06 was found to be a false report.  On 05/07 Rodell Pinckney, 19, of Annapolis reported that he was robbed of money and his cell phone on 05/06.  After investigation by detectives this report was determined to be false and charges were obtained for Pinckney for false report.  Pinckney was arrested on 05/22 and made a statement admitting it was a false report.  Pinckney is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

 

On 05/23 at 2:30am officers recovered the stolen silver Dodge Stratus taken from the 1000 block of President St between 05/14 and 05/18.  The driver and sole occupant, Suzette Sturgis, 43, of Annapolis was arrested and charges are pending for possessing a stolen vehicle and driving while suspended.

Theft from Vehicle – 201300002209 – Unit block of West St – 05/15 at 11pm to 05/16 at 11:30am:  A brown leather purse and black and white canvas work bag were stolen from a vehicle.  The vehicle’s window was broken with a brick to steal the items from the front passenger seat and floor.  The purse was recovered in the 100 block of Duke of Gloucester St.  It was found on the roof of a residential garage with most of its contents removed.

Thefts from Vehicles – 201300002324 – 1000 block of Blackwell Rd – 05/21 at 10pm to 05/22 at 12pm:  An RCA DVD sending unit and an RCA DVD receiving unit were taken from two unlocked vehicles.    

 

U.S. Naval Academy Graduation

Traffic congestion is expected in Annapolis on Friday, May 24 due to the graduation ceremony scheduled at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium at 10am.  Roads affected include U.S. Route 50, Rowe Blvd, Farragut Rd, Taylor Av, Cedar Park Rd, Annapolis St, and Maryland Route 450.  Other the roads in the area may also be affected.  Traffic congestion is expected to start at 6am to peak between 7am and 10am.  There may also be congestion after 1pm when the ceremony ends.
