  • The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) provides boating services including marine police, boating safety, licensing/registration, and private moorings, among others.
    • In the event of an emergency or for more information contact the DNR Police at 410-260-8888 or hail on VHF 16.

  • The City of Annapolis in collaboration with Anne Arundel County uses an emergency alert notification system called CodeRED to contact users quickly in the case of an emergency. The service is free, and alerts can be received via phone or through mobile apps. The system will be used solely by the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Risk Management regarding emergency and important information within the City of Annapolis. The City respects users’ privacy and intends only to activate the system in true emergency situations.
  • Residents:

  • Transients:

    • Transient boating customers may take advantage of this service for hazards related to any extraordinary weather events such as hurricanes.
    • However, it is strongly recommended that transient boaters living outside of Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis use the free mobile apps opposed to the phone-based system. This is due to the fact that members will receive year-round alerts that are applicable just to Anne Arundel County, and may not necessarily reside in the City or County.
    • The apps not only work with other CodeRED supported areas nationwide, they also do not require an account.
    • Alternatively, if you choose to take advantage of the telephone-based alerts, please use the address listed on your rental receipt along with your mobile phone number.
