Our priority is addressed through the community’s collective effort in ensuring that all children receive a balance of education, safety and security programs, and fun before, during and after school, by providing after-school programs in one of six (6) City recreation and parks centers or in the community.

Safety and security is a major part in ensuring guidelines with every school activity and/or community event: City police and fire departments provide enrichment programs in our schools by means of adopting schools (Stop, Drop, and Roll, smoke detector awareness, safety tips to look for around the house, inside and outside, what to do in the event of an emergency, who to call, where the family should meet once they leave the house; police provide neighborhood watch training for adults, and public education for the entire family); police officers and firefighters also provide service equipment displays for community centers, community fairs, during fire and police expos, and during the annual Family Night Out; and other city employees participate in Career Days and Guest Reader Programs on a regular basis. These efforts are conducted to ensure that all children are exposed to the same level of understanding, nurturing and care regarding the concern of the stakeholders who protect them in the community every day. Every employee and volunteer who cater to children, before, during, and after-school functions (on school properties and/or in each community centers, are trained to do so.
