Located Critically Missing Adult



UPDATE:  On May 7, 2013 at approx. 12:30pm officers searching the area of Route 665 and Vineyard Lane discovered Melvin Colbert in the woods.  Mr. Colbert was found laying in the woods wet and cold due to the weather.  He was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment. 


Officers had been searching areas around Mr. Colbert’s residence on foot since the early morning hours.  Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop said, "from the minute we were notified to the time we found Mr. Colbert, Annapolis police officers tirelessly investigated and searched for him. There was a ton of concern. Nearly 27,000 people saw our Facebook post. In the end, a police search team found him. We are all grateful for the results."


UPDATE: Melvin William Colbert is still missing. Mr. Colbert walks with a cane which was left at his home. Without the cane, he walks slowly and his posture is hunched over. When Mr. Colbert has walked off before he has been found near Lincoln Dr, Chinquapin Round Rd, Hicks Av, the Gardiner Center, and the Safeway on Forest Dr. Officers will be out in those areas today looking for Mr. Colbert.

Missing Subject: Melvin William Colbert (06/29/1927) B/M, 6’02, 190 lbs, Gray Hair, Brown Eyes. Mr. Colbert walked away from his home and has not returned. He suffers from dementia and may be confused.

Clothing: Possible baseball cap, turquoise windbreaker jacket, navy blue t-shirt, navy blue sweatpants with a white stripe down each leg, one gray sneaker, and one burgundy sneaker.

No Vehicle

Last Seen: 05/06/13 @ 9am walking out of his residence in the 1800 block of Robert Small Rd in Annapolis.

Frequents: Shopping centers, 7-11s, McDonalds
